NetEase Games dropped the Season 1 patch for Marvel Rivals, which includes two new heroes Sue Storm aka The Invisible Woman and Reed Richards aka Mister Fantastic, along with several other updates in the game. In this guide, we will go over several heroes and playstyles to counter Mister Fantastic.
Understanding Mister Fantastic

Mister Fantastic is a duelist character with the highest base HP among any other heroes in his category. To counter Mister Fantastic, we first need to know the scenarios where he shines the most. His primary attack is the Stretch Punch, which has an attack range of 15M without any falloff penalty. This distance is the benchmark for most of his abilities, and it is the range where he is most lethal. Mister Fantastic likes to play up close, generally with his Vanguards, helping them create space for the team. Most of his abilities revolve around giving shields to teammates around him, which makes his entire team extra tanky.

His passive grants him Elasticity, a trait that essentially turns him into a Vanguard for six seconds when the Elasticity meter goes up to 100. His attack damage is increased greatly in this form, but the range is shortened to 5M. For the ultimate ability, Fantastic bounces in an AoE up to six times dealing damage and slowing any enemies caught.

However, his strongest ability is not his ultimate but the Reflexive Rubber skill. In this state, Fantastic can not only deflect normal attacks and projectiles, but can also counter some of the strongest ultimates in the game. If that was not enough, he returns the damage based on the percent dealt to him back at the attacker.
How To Counter Mister Fantastic In Marvel Rivals
The best way to counter Mister Fantastic is by exploiting his lack of mobility and range. A lot of heroes fit into this category, but the ones we have listed below are sure to give you an edge:
Wolverine

This one is a no-brainer. Wolverine’s attacks deal damage based on the max HP of his foes. You will be able to take down Mister Fantastic quicker than he can generate 100 charge of Elasticity. He can also tank some damage with his Undying Animal ability, and push Fantastic into his team with Feral Leap to finish him off. Wolverine has the ability to generate Bonus Health as well, so he can easily sustain a 1v1 against Fantastic.
Scarlet Witch

While one of the weakest heroes in the entire game, Scarlet Witch is a direct counter to all of Mister Fantastic’s abilities. She also deals damage based on the enemies’ max health, although not as quickly as Wolverine. She can kite out Fantastic’s “tank form” with Dark Seal, and can easily escape his ultimate with Mystic Projection. He also cannot counter her Reality Erasure if she channels it outside the 15M range. Her primary fire’s damage may not be high, but it is consistent. If you focus on Fantastic with a teammate, you should be able to take him down substantially fast.
Groot

Groot can manage to completely shut down Mister Fantastic’s crowd control abilities by making smart use of his walls. When you see Fantastic grab an ally, place a wall directly in front of him – this won’t let him grab another ally for Distended Grip or follow up if pulls in the ally. Additionally, you can also block him off from the rest of his team if he uses a greedy Flexible Elongation by making a wall behind him, trapping him with your team.
Peni Parker

Even though her damage fall off begins at 10M, Peni Parker can effectively play out of Fantastic’s range, to still have an impact. Because of the low rate of attack, he can’t break Parker’s Bionic Spider-Nest easily, where she gets multiple bonuses. He would also need to tank Arachno mines in most cases, which deal a ton of damage on their own. Peni can also kite out his ultimate with her own, or by a well-placed Cyber-Bond.
Luna Snow

Considered by many as the strongest hero in the game, it is no surprise that Luna Snow has made it into this list. She can heal two people at once, which makes Distended Grip lose much of its value. She can also use Absolute Zero to freeze Fantastic when he is in the “tank” form. Her ultimate ‘Fate of Both Worlds’ completely outheals any damage done by Fantastic’s Brainiac’s Bounce.
