Storm is one of two flying heroes in Marvel Rivals with a hybrid kit that allows her to be versatile and demands her to be a team player. Even being a three-star difficulty character, it can be hard to get value out of her unless you know what you are doing. In this guide, we will go over all the tips you need to become a dominating Storm player and rise through the ranks. All the information below is updated according to the Season 1 update, which dropped on 10th January 2025.
How To Play Storm In Marvel Rivals

You should play Storm as a mix of duelist and strategist to maximize her potential. She can be a menace to deal with because her flying status means the enemy team has to constantly switch between looking at the sky and to the ground towards the rest of her team. Her primary fire is a projectile-based attack, and does not deal bonus critical damage for headshots. Let us dive in-depth into her abilities
Ability #1: Weather Control

Storm’s first ability “Weather Control” is what makes her unique from the rest of the roster in the game. This ability grants Storm an aura in a radius, inside which her teammates can have two different buffs. The first buff is Movement Boost and the other is Damage Boost. By hitting the designated key (LShift by default), Storm can switch between these boosts and empower her allies. The number of allies boosted can be seen on the HUD, and it also displays what boost you are currently providing. A “cyclone” icon means the Movement Boost buff, and a “thunder” icon means the Damage Boost buff. Additionally, there is no cooldown to this ability, so you can keep switching according to the situation.
Ability #2: Goddess Boost

Her second ability is “Goddess Boost” and lasts for eight seconds. It has different effects depending upon the aura you have. If you have the Tornado aura, it gives Storm additional movement speed and will also slow any enemies stepping inside her aura. The Thunder aura gives her additional damage, while bringing down bursts of thunder on enemies every two seconds. The number of enemies inside your aura is displayed in red on your HUD. This ability has a 15 second cooldown.
Ability #3: Bolt Rush

The third ability is called “Bolt Rush” which is a hitscan attack that does 80 damage and has an 8 second cooldown. This is a nice addition to her kit that helps her finish off low HP heroes when she needs to reload. The low cooldown means it can be used to harass out-of-position strategists, forcing them to find cover and leave their team with no heals. It also has a massive range of 40M, so you can get any enemy with low health trying to escape.
Ultimate Ability: Omega Hurricane

Storm’s ultimate is called “Omega Hurricane” which turns her into an invincible form for 2 seconds after casting, and allows her to choose an AoE where she turns into a hurricane for 5 seconds, pulling enemies in and continuously damaging them. This is one of the strongest ultimates in the game, as it has very little counterplay to it. It has the potential to wipe out the enemies’ entire backline, and deal additional damage to the Vanguard on top of it.
Team-up Ability: Charged Gale

Her team-up ability is “Charged Gale” and is activated if she has a Thor on the team. This gives her an additional lightning barrage, that can bounce between enemies. This ability does 55 damage and has a 15 second cooldown.
Gameplay Tips
Tip #1

Even though Storm is a flying character, you should almost never play her too high in the air, unless it is to escape ultimates or divide the enemies’ attention. Her aura is in a sphere around her, so the higher you go the shorter it gets. Moreover, since headshots don’t deal additional damage, always try to aim for the body because it has a wider hitbox, which increases your chances of dealing damage.
Tip #2

Always try to play behind cover with Storm. She doesn’t have any “one shot” combos like Spiderman or Psylocke, but using her abilities correctly can help her finish off foes relatively fast. If you have your team-up ability active, we recommend this combo: Goddess Boost-Primary Fire-Bolt Rush-Charged Gale. Considering you hit with all your abilities, the Charged Gale should take down any squishy character you are targeting.
Tip #3

Use the Cyclone aura when you are starting the game, so your team can reach the objective faster. Additionally, if you’ve respawned and know another teammate is about to respawn as well, wait for them and boost them so you reach the point faster together. If you see an ally engaging someone, or a powerful ultimate being used by your teammate, switch to your Thunder aura to assist them. It not only helps kill the enemy faster, but also builds your ultimate.
Tip #4

If any match is a stalemate, instead of going for flanks try farming your ultimate off tanks. They have big hitboxes which makes it easier to hit your shots, so you can try to make plays after you get your ultimate. Like in most cases in all the games, her ultimate is the strongest part of her kit, so it is best to get it first and then initiate a counterplay.
Tip #5

Since she has no gap-closing or escape ability, Storm doesn’t work well dive heroes. Heroes like Iron Fist, Black Panther, and Spiderman find a hard time making use of Storm’s auras since they are mostly making space for your team by disrupting the enemies. However, heroes that trade hits with the enemy team, and decide the pace of the fight can make excellent use of her aura.
Tip #6

Stay in the line of sight of your healers. If they have to constantly reposition or look up to heal you, your flying ability becomes counterproductive. Storm also has the best kit to punish heroes diving her backline. She can speed them up so they can get to safety, or damage boost them if the enemy diver is on low health.
Best Team Compositions With Storm
To fully utilize Storm’s aura, you need heroes who stay in the fight and face the enemy team with you. We have listed the best of them below:
Magneto

Magneto is a poke-type Vanguard and thrives in long-drawn fights. His skills allow him to save himself and his allies, while simultaneously increasing his damage output. Storm’s Thunder aura adds to this, and he becomes a hard-hitting character with a massive health bar.
The Punisher

The Punisher likes to stay in fights as long as possible, so he can deal tons of damage with his primary fire and turret form. With Storm’s Thunder aura, The Punisher just melts any squishy character and at times even tanks with his turret, eliminating them before they can react.
Mantis

Mantis is a hard-hitting strategist, and when teamed up with Storm, she can eliminate any squishy hero in two critical hits by combining her “Natural Anger” ability with Storm’s Thunder Aura.
Thor

This is an obvious one – because of the “Charged Gale” team-up ability. But it isn’t just that; Storm can set up the “God of Thunder” for Thor by pulling enemies in with her own ultimate. Since they can’t escape if they don’t have any movement abilities, Thor can get the maximum impact out of God of Thunder for a potential team wipe.
