The Season 1 update bought a lot of exciting stuff in Marvel Rivals. A brand new battle pass, two new heroes, and various skins were all added in this patch. On top of this, players also got season-specific events for various heroes. One such event is “Spider-Man: Villain or Vampire?” which has various sets of missions in it. In this guide, we will explain how to complete the first set of missions in the event.
What Is Spider Tracer In Marvel Rivals

Spider Tracer is a unique debuff in Marvel Rivals that only Spider-Man can apply on his enemies. He can do this by using his alternate fire called Web-Cluster. It deals 30 damage, and then bursts for an additional 45 damage when certain criteria are met. You will know an enemy is tagged when they have a small “web” icon above their head. It lasts for three seconds per charge, and its damage burst effect does not stack.
How To Trigger Spider Tracer In Marvel Rivals

Spider Tracer can be triggered either by primary fire or the “Amazing Combo” ability. For the event mission, you must trigger Spider Tracer 10 times on enemies. Thankfully, this can be accomplished in Competitive, Quick Play, or even Practice VS. AI mode, making it accessible to players of all skill levels. If you are new to playing Spider-Man, Practice VS. AI is an excellent option for completing the mission and earning the H.E.R.B.I.E Nation spray reward.

Additionally, a little known fact is that Spider Tracer can also be triggered with the slam down attack. Since this move is not listed in the ability section, it is obvious that players didn’t know about it for a long time. His “Thwip and Flip” ability allows him to double jump with no cooldown, and if you follow it with a primary attack, instead of the normal Spider-Power punch that does 25 damage, Spider-Man will perform a slam down attack that does 40 damage.

Spider Tracer also changes how Spider-Man’s “Get Over Here” ability works, where instead of pulling enemies towards him, he reels himself in for a kick that hurls an enemy up and deals 50 damage. However, this does not trigger the Spider Tracer charge, and neither does his ultimate “Spectacular Spin”. Because of these mechanics, Spider-Man can perform several combos that trigger Spider Tracer for additional damage and ‘one-shot’ potential. Some of the combos we recommend are:
- Web Cluster-Get Over Here-Amazing Combo-Web Cluster-Primary Attack
- Web Cluster-Web Swing(to the feet of the enemy)-Amazing Combo-Web Cluster-Thwip and Flip-Slam Down Attack
- Get Over Here-Web Cluster-Primary Attack-Web Cluster-Amazing Combo
Using these combos are sure to get you Spider Tracer triggers. If played correctly, it is possible to complete the entire mission in just a single match. All the above combos give you at least 2 triggers per elimination, and you need 10 to complete the mission.
General Tips For Spider-Man

If you’re aiming to maximize Spider-Man’s effectiveness in matches, here are a few additional tips:
- Master Mobility: Spider-Man’s Web Swing and Thwip and Flip abilities allow him to be very agile. Use these to navigate the map quickly and escape dangerous situations.
- Utilize Off Angles: Take advantage of Spider-Man’s mobility to take high ground, or an unusual route and surprise enemies.
- Manage Cooldowns: Spider-Man’s abilities have varying cooldowns. Plan your combos carefully to ensure your important abilities are always available when needed.
- Practice Web-Cluster Accuracy: Since Web-Cluster is essential for triggering Spider Tracer, improving your aim with this ability will significantly enhance your gameplay.
Completing the mission
This mission comes under the first set titled “J. Jonah Jameson Disapproves”. It also has another mission where you need to upvote 3 allies that initially picked Spider-Man in the match. This mission can also be completed in all three modes. Players can finish all three sets of missions until 7 February, and all of them are relatively easy. If you are looking to acquire free sprays and Units, now is the time!
