Dynasty Warriors is the latest action game by Koei Tecmo Games that has some of the most impressive hack-n-slash mechanics seen in recent times. The game also has light RPG mechanics and forces you to make tough decisions. You will be asked to make one such decision during the near end-game quest Battle of Xu Province, where one choice can affect the rest of your playthrough. In this guide, we will tell you all about the quest and how to complete it.
KEY SUMMARY POINTS:
- You have to make a key decision of joining one of the two factions during the quest
- When the battle starts, don’t rush to the center, clear out enemy camps across the map first.
- The mission will be successful only if you defeat the enemy leader, and your leader does not flee.
- Anytime you see an orange pin on the map, rush to it and defend your leader.
How To Unlock Battle Of Xu Province In Dynasty Warriors: Origins

Since it is a main story quest, you unlock Battle of Xu Province simply by progressing the game while siding with any faction. However, once you start the quest you need to make a choice – side with Cao Cao’s “Wei” faction or side with Tao Qian’s “Shu” faction. Once you have picked a faction, it is locked as your choice for the rest of the game. You cannot side with the other faction later, and lose access to the faction-specific quests. This quest however plays somewhat similarly regardless of the choice you make, with very minor changes to it.
How To Complete Battle Of Xu Province In Dynasty Warriors: Origins

You must defeat the opposite faction’s leader to finish this quest. However, you can also fail this quest if the leader(s) of your faction is forced to flee. Since this quest dictates taking over an entire province, you need to complete multiple objectives as they appear one by one.
The best strategy for this quest is decimating the enemy forces and their bases in all directions before heading for the center. Any event in the battle will be displayed via a text on your screen, so you can’t miss anything out; you just need to be fast and effective to be able to reach there in time. This is why it is recommended to use your Battle Arts and Companions to clear large groups of enemies quickly.

Begin from the south of the province, and help your faction outnumber the enemy soldiers. Clear the soldier horde and start heading east to find the first enemy Officer. These are tougher enemies that can tank a lot of damage while also having the potential to kill you quickly, especially on higher difficulties. If you are getting overwhelmed, try to isolate them in a corner away from their faction, where you don’t need to worry about stray arrows and swords hitting you in the back.

Keep navigating in the anti-clockwise direction, unless you get a prompt to aid your faction in some manner. It usually entails helping your Officer defeat their counterpart, or holding out enemy reinforcements until your own arrive. Additionally, your faction’s leader will also boost the morale of his soldiers with a “Battle Cry” which will increase their performance, during which they won’t need help and you can focus on taking down the enemy base.

If you pay attention to the opposite faction’s leader’s dialogues, it also gives you clues as to what he plans to do next. Reach their location before they advance and push them back to defend your base and strengthen your numbers further. After you have taken down bases from all directions, head to the center to fight a large force of the faction leader’s “right hand”. When you have cleared the force, get ready to charge for the final push.

Fight the leaders and the almost infinite number of soldiers in battle, and concentrate on taking out the Officers. Once you have taken them out, focus on the leader and defeat him to achieve victory. Completing this quest rewards you with proficiency in all the weapons you used during the battle. Additionally, you are also granted Skills points and Mount EXP.
