Dynasty Warriors Origins brings back everything that was so good about the classic Dynasty Warriors games, from many quests to complete and battles to win to many weapons such as the iconic Halberds to be unlocked.
The Battle of Puyang is one of the toughest battles in the game, and the Soul Crusher Halberd is one of the strongest weapons that you can get your hands on. This article will tell you about this battle, this weapon, and how they are linked to each other.
Unlocking The Soul Crusher In Dynasty Warriors Origins

You can get the Soul Crusher Halberd by either purchasing it from a Weapon Shop after completing the main storyline, or by completing the Battle of Puyang on the Ultimate Warrior difficulty. This, of course includes defeating Lu Bu as well, not the easiest of tasks even on lower difficulty levels.
After you have completed the game’s storyline once, you can load up your postgame save file, which will take you just before the final battle, and also give you the option to replay all the battles and events that you have already completed. Now you will be able to simply head to any of the Weapons Shops, and the Soul Crusher halberd will be available to purchase for 400,000 coins.
The only problem is that 400,000 coins can be a lot and it will take you a very long time to get up to this value even if you have been focused on saving your money. Thankfully, there is also another way to unlock the Soul Crusher Halberd, which can be a challenge in itself but will be much easier than accumulating 400,000 coins.
The other method to unlocking the Soul Crusher Halberd is completing the Battle of Puyang quest and defeating Lu Bu on the Ultimate Warrior difficulty.
Completing The Battle Of Puyang

Although you can complete the Battle of Puyang by capturing 10 bases as well, you will only be able to receive the Soul Crusher Halberd if you choose to go for the other option and defeat Lu Bu in the highest difficulty level in the game. Of course, this mission also won’t be limited to just defeating Lu Bu as you will also have to defeat Zhang Liao and Chen Gong afterward or capture ten bases after the Lu Bu fight just to make sure you get the Soul Crusher.
You will be thrust straight into battle once you have completed the initial cutscene of this mission and chosen to take on Lu Bu. It would be a good idea to buy another Halberd such as the Sky Crusher or the Sky Blaze as it will help you defeat the large forces of Lu Bu much easier than normal weapons would.
As Lu Bu’s armies are going to be very large in number, your best option is probably to not focus on killing them all but rather deal as much damage as you can to the opponents that get in your way and swiftly move on before they can retaliate. Once you have captured a few bases you will eventually have to fight Lu Bu as your allies won’t be able to contain him for too long.
How To Defeat Lu Bu In Dynasty Warriors Origins?

Fighting Lu Bu won’t be easy and there’s a chance that you might have to do it over and over again before you manage to get a victory against him. Regardless, here are a few tips that will help you deal with this difficult boss, and defeat him.
- Use your companions to fight Lu Bu. While they won’t deal the most damage, your companions can help get you out of tough spots and give you time to recover during the boss battle.
- Tactics such as Volley and Charge can be very helpful in damaging and stunning Lu Bu from a distance and making the fight easier for you. You can follow up on these tactics by jumping closer to him and dealing as much damage as you can while he is not active.
- Make good use of your War God Rage. The War God Rage can be a great move to cause damage but you will be better off saving it for when you get into trouble during the Lu Bu fight. You can activate this move to gain invincibility for a short amount of time, and you should ideally do this when you’re running low on health.
- Lu Bu has a wide variety of attack patterns which can be very unpredictable at times. Take your time to learn these patterns even if it means you have to retry the mission as they will make this battle much easier than just trying to out-battle him through pure skill. The most effective defensive move against Lu Bu’s attacks is usually to block but you can always jump or run away from him whenever you feel like you’re not doing too well.
- One more thing to remember about the Lu Bu fight is that your Special Art attacks will not be as effective on him as they usually are on other enemies. Lu Bu is easily able to deflect a lot of the Special Art attacks when he is in his orange attack state. These attacks will be fired back at you and you will either be forced to dodge them or to block them.
Once you manage to successfully defeat Lu Bu, you will then receive the Soul Crusher Halberd in your inventory and you can equip it by heading into your Equipments tab. You can then go on to complete the rest of the mission by either capturing a total of ten bases in the area or by going on to defeat Zhang Liao and Chen Gong. We would recommend you just finish the Battle of Puyang quest by trying out your new Soul Crusher Halberd and capturing the rest of the ten bases unless you want to take up another challenge.
