You can unlock up to three true endings in Dynasty Warriors Origins and saving Dian Wei and Guo Jia is a critical part of unlocking the true ending for Wei. This is also by far the toughest ending to unlock and it is recommended to play on the Historian difficulty as it will make this task much easier.
This article will tell you about the Wei ending in Dynasty Warriors Origins, how you can save Dian Wei and Guo Jia, and some tips to help you out along the way.
Cao Cao’s Wei True Ending

You can only obtain the Wei True Ending for Cao Cao’s forces when you have completed the game at least once. You can then load up the Chapter Four mission ‘Escape From Wan Castle’ from the Inn and replay it to save Dian Wei.
Although the goal of this mission is to save Cao Cao, you will also need to figure out a way to help Dian Wei escape, which can be very tough and requires precise timing.
How To Save Dian Wei In Dynasty Warriors Origins?

Being fast will be the key to success in saving Dian Wei in the Escape From Wan Castle mission in Dynasty Warriors Origins. As soon as the mission starts, follow these steps:
- Head to the top-left-hand corner of the map or the northwestern side and capture the enemy base there.
- Once you have defeated the General at this base, the second step is to head to the top-right-hand corner or the northeastern side and capture the base there, by defeating all enemy forces.
Note: You can also choose to take the reverse order but we have personally found the northwest to northeastern route to be a lot more efficient.
- Once you have claimed both these bases, get to the center of the map as fast as you can to take on the Ambushing General and his army. Take out as many of these enemies as you can.
- Head to the Laddermen as soon as they appear on the northwestern side of the map.
- Use the ladders to enter the castle and deal with the three officers you come across in the Central Courtyard as quickly as you can. You only have approximately two minutes to defeat them all if you want to save Dian Wei, so use everything at your disposal such as Battle Arts or Halberds.
- Once you have defeated these Generals, head further into the castle to find Huche’er.
- If Huche’er comments on saving Cao Cao’s bodyguard, then you’re on track, if he doesn’t, it’s better to save your time and restart the mission as you’re already too late.
- You will also have roughly two minutes to defeat Huche’er, and while this fight isn’t too tough, you will need to be as efficient as possible to defeat him within two minutes.
- Once you have dealt with Huche’er, Dian Wei should speak about the enemy numbers thinning and a ‘Fate Altered’ message should appear on your screen. If it doesn’t, then you took too long to defeat Huche’er and need to try again. But if it does, then you can simply leave with Cao Cao with Dian Wei successfully saved.
How To Save Guo Jia In Dynasty Warriors Origins?

You will need to save Guo Jia in the fifth chapter in the mission called the Battle Of Mt. Bailang. While this won’t be as tough as saving Dian Wei, speed will also play a crucial role here and you will especially have to focus on completing the first part of the mission as quickly as possible.
- Start the mission by capturing the base closest to you in the northwest direction.
- Next, head up to the middle area and then go west to another base while ignoring all the enemies you meet along the way.
- Defeat all the enemies present here including Yuan Mei and Nanlou then head out from the western gate on your horse to find Bailuan on the pathway.
- Defeating Bailuan won’t be an easy task but you will need to be able to defeat him in a short amount of time if you want to save Guo Jia.
- If you do not manage to defeat Bailuan in the required time, he will say that he “brought enough time, ” at which point you will have to restart the mission all over again as you were too slow. If he asks you “Whether you want to pursue the bloodstained path?” then you will have completed the mission on time and saved Guo Jia in the process.
- You can launch the ambush soon after this, and the Fate Altered message should appear on your screen once again.
There are also other ways to deal with this mission and save Guo Jia as well, but we found this method to be the easiest and the most efficient as it saves a lot of time.
The Final Battle

Saving Dian Wei and Guo Jia won’t be enough to secure you the Wei True Ending as you will also need to make sure you stop Huang Gai’s treachery at the Battle of Chibi in the fifth chapter of Dynasty Warriors Origins. Thankfully, this will be a lot easier than the previous two missions.
As soon as the battle starts, your first objective will be to head to the prayer altar and defeat Zhuge Liang. You should also try to take out any enemies you see along the way as there isn’t as strict of a time restriction for this mission. Once you have dealt with Zhuge Liang, you can head to the rear of the ship and wait for the traitor Huang Gai to turn up. Just make sure to not get there too early as it can cause him to leave.
This final battle will be tough as you will have to defeat Huang Gai before he can burn down the fleet, but it still shouldn’t be too difficult if you’re on the Historian difficulty. You will get the ‘Fate Altered’ message for a final time once you have dealt with Huang Gai and you can easily complete the rest of the mission to end the game and unlock the Wei True Ending. This also unlocks ‘The True Path To Power’ trophy.
