Live Wire Inc’s latest title Ender Magnolia: Bloom in the Mist is a fantasy RPG with 2D side-scrolling mechanics. However, this does not mean that the game is a walk in the park. It has a lot of depth to it story-wise, and has surprisingly difficult combat. Today we’ll take you through the method of defeating a Homunculi known as Garm the Giant Grave Digger.
How To Find Garm The Giant Grave Digger In Ender Magnolia: Bloom in the Mist

You can find Garm the Giant Grave Digger in the western region of the Magicite Mine. From the Respite resting location at the topmost part of the area, start heading left until you reach the end of the cliff, then jump down. You will find Garm digging the ground and surrounded by Homunculi graves. He doesn’t notice you initially, but as soon as he does, he turns hostile and you are required to fight him.
How to Defeat Garm the Giant Grave Digger in Ender Magnolia: Bloom in the Mist

You need to survive through all of Garm’s three phases to defeat him. He doesn’t actually change forms during these phases, but instead adds new variety to his attacks. The most important tip in this fight is punishing his wind-up and after-attack animations. There is always a delay during both of them, and you can sneak in two or three hits every time. The second phase kicks in when the HP is two-thirds down, and the final when he is down to half health.
All of his attack patterns are actually pretty easy to read, they are just difficult to dodge – especially in the heat of battle. You will know he is about to perform an attack when his eyes start glowing. His attacks include:
Phase 1
- A jump and slam down attack, where he creates shockwaves in both directions upon landing.
- A forward kick with a short range.
- A stationary slam attack that creates shockwaves in both directions.
Phase 2 (adds attacks from Phase 1)
- A stationary slam attack that creates rocks of lava all around Garm, dealing damage.
Phase 3 (adds attacks from Phase 1 and 2)
- A stationary slam attack that creates shockwaves in both directions, followed by a massive spiral blaze, followed by a modified version of rocks of lava thrown in all directions.
Tips to Fight Garm the Giant Grave Digger
Across all three phases, you need to equip items that allow you to punish the moments when he is stuck in the animation. We have found the Lacerate Homunculi to be one of the most useful tools, as it has no cooldown period. It is a medium-range spinning blade throw attack. You must also equip:
- Glacial Fist – Freezes the enemy for a brief duration, allowing you to deal free damage. It has a cooldown of five seconds.
- Bone Pulverize – An axe that deals slow but powerful melee attacks. Repeated attacks allow you to perform a combo. An excellent tool to follow up after Glacial Fist.
- Seeker – Summons Munnin the Owl, who deals consistent damage with magic bullets to any enemies within the range that you attack.
- Chain Whip – Shields you from attacks for a brief period, and if used with proper timing, performs a counterattack with the chains. it has a 9 second cooldown time.
- Eye of the Ancient Relic – Reduces the cooldown of all your abilities by 10%

In the first phase, it is important to understand when he is using the jump attack, and positioning yourself accordingly to jump over the shockwaves and land a few hits. His forward kick has a relatively short range, during which you can use ranged attacks to damage him. The stationary slam attack leaves him extremely exposed to damage, and you should take full advantage of it. The second phase doesn’t change much, except that you need to dodge lava rocks and if you are lucky, deal some damage while his weapon is in the ground.

The third phase, however, can get a bit tricky. He puts himself in a vulnerable position again, but there are spirals of blaze around him this time, so you can’t do anything but dodge. As mentioned earlier, he also follows it up with lava rocks, so you need to make a choice — either position yourself between them while closing the distance quicker, or let him finish his combo and then attack him.
Once you have defeated Garm, a short cutscene will play and you will be rewarded with Garm’s Iron Stake attack which is his ‘slam down’ attack. This attack can destroy breakable floors, and its damage scales with the height reached.
