Heroes of Hammerwatch II has a lot going on with interesting mechanics and a great character and class progression. The game encourages replaybility, and with seven different classes each with their own unique set of skills, each playthrough feels different. In this article, we will tell you all about the New Game+ mechanic in the game.
What Is New Game+ In Heroes Of Hammerwatch II

New Game+ (NG+) allows you to start a new game with all the items, skills, attributes, and level you gained in your previous playthrough. In most games, you can only start a New Game+ once. However, Heroes of Hammerwatch II lets players to get upto NG+3 and even more.
What is NG+ Levelling in Heroes of Hammerwatch II
During your first playthrough, the maximum level your character can reach is 20. This can feel pretty underwhelming considering there are still randomly generated dungeons for you to explore, yet you won’t get any XP for it. However, with each NG+ your character’s maximum level cap is increased by 5. So, your character can grind up to level 25 in NG+0 playthrough, level 30 in NG+1 playthrough, and so on.
However, your level cap isn’t the only thing that is modified – enemies start getting tougher, have varying attack patterns, and swarm you in numbers. On top of that, you also start receiving additional XP and better rewards in exchange of defeating tougher in enemies.
General Gameplay Tips
- If your character already reaches its level cap in a playthrough, switch out items that grant XP. Since any XP gained after you reach your cap doesn’t carry forward in the next run, it is best to use items, Chapel Blessings, and equipment that enhance your other attributes like Attack power, defense stats, or mana regen.
- The blacksmith always has equipment available relative to your level. If a boss or a dungeon feels too tough, visit the blacksmith, get the appropriate equipment, and try again.
- Keep your gear upgraded. Always have a few iron in your inventory, so you can keep using the gear that matches your playstyle. Some equipment is rare and has special stats, so you cant throw it away just because you have a high-leveled sword with no stats.
- Attune your weapons and trinkets. If you have spare skill points lying around, remember to attune them with your weapons or trinkets to gain additional bonuses.
