Wuthering Waves, like any good open-world game, gives the player a lot of freedom to engage in various kinds of distractions apart from the main quest. One such example is “Trials of the Old”, a side quest that gives you a mix of challenges, ranging from deciphering clues to defeating enemies in a specific manner to positioning yourself correctly as Vitreum dancers pass all around you. If this is something that sounds interesting, then you should give this quest a shot. In this guide, we have all the details on how to complete the Trials of Old quest in Wuthering Waves.
How To Start The Trials Of Old Quest In Wuthering Waves
The Trials Of Old quest is given to you by a vision named Chloe. You unlock this quest shortly after completing Act 3 of Chapter 2 “What Yesterday Wept, Today Doth Sing”, via a ‘mysterious mail’. Check your mailbox and head over to Veno Castle in Thessaleo Fells to talk with Chloe and start the quest.
How To Complete All Trials Of Old In Wuthering Waves
This quest requires players to complete four Trials of the Old. These are not order-specific, and hence can also be done while free roaming the world. The trials in the list below are only numbered for the purpose of understanding.
1. Trial Of Wisdom

Doing this trial first is optimal as it is the closest one to where the quest begins. Go north to Twin Peaks, and up the stairs to your right. This trial requires you to place the paintings in the correct position. If you approach each stand, there will be a clue to the painting that needs to be put up there. Standing in the middle and facing the stands, let’s start from the leftmost stand to the rightmost stand, and label them 1,2,3 and 4.
Stand 1: Take the painting showing a narrow sliver of sunlight and place it on this stand.
Stand 2: The clue mentions a raging storm, so the ship trying to survive in stormy waters is the right picture to put up here.
Stand 3: The clue describes how the crew spied a new island on the horizon, so the painting that goes here is the ship in calm sea.
Stand 4: The clue talks about how the people finally found a new island and built their homes on it. So, pick up the painting with the bright scenery and place it here.
This will complete the challenge and you will be rewarded with 30 Union Exp, 20 Astrite, 6000 Shell Credit, and 2 Medium Resonance.
2. Trial Of Swiftness

From Twin Peaks, head south till you find a ruin with a device sticking out. Interact with it to start the trial. This trial requires you to kill archer enemies within a time limit, and only by crushing them under pillars. This can be done either by using the grapple, or the Cuddle Wuddle echo. You must literally be ‘swift’ in this trial, as the archers have high fire-rate attacks and a charged attack that does significant damage. You will be rewarded with 30 Union Exp, 20 Astrite, 6000 Shell Credit, and 2 Medium Resonance on completing the challenge.
3. Trial Of Bravery

This trial is fairly easy and only requires you to slay enemies within the time limit. However, these enemies are level-scaled, so they might differ in damage dealt and taken for some players. Remember to use skills to your advantage as they spawn close to each other, which makes them vulnerable to a lot of AoE attacks. After completing the challenge, you get 30 Union Exp, 20 Astrite, 6000 Shell Credit, and 1 Medium Energy Core.
4. Trial Of Perception
Head west from Garden of the Lost, and interact with the device between a giant circle to start the trial. You will now be placed in an isometric view and told to observe the movements of Vitreum dancers. After that, you will be tasked to ‘not get hit’. This trial essentially requires you stand in a specific spot in the pattern for three phases, from where the Vitreum dancers will not go through you.
- Phase 1: Stand below the central circle, on the edge as shown in the image below

- Phase 2: Stand just below to the left of the central circle as shown in the image below

- Phase 3: This is a simple one – stand right in the circle at the centre, and you will not get touched by the Vitreum dancers!
Completing this challenge rewards you with 3 supply chests, each containing random loot.
Finish The Quest

Return to Porto-Veno Castle and interact with Chloe. Deliver the Porto-Veno medals to her, and proceed towards the door. Investigate the door and the quest will be completed. You will receive 200 union exp, 30 Astrite, 24000 Shell Credit, and The Maiden Candidate trophy.
